Savage Hearts are cool. They are helmed by the mighty Anael Bonsarte, Liz Devin and Bertie Sepulveda who steer a bunch of (mostly) Burners based in LA that give back to the community in constructive and interesting ways. This umbrella organization shelters The Love Ride, Wench Toast, The Clean Carriage and The Butt Patrol.
The Love Ride is a revolutionary approach to Valentine’s Day, where a group of bicyclists gather at designated locations and then ride through that area distributing gift bags to homeless people and their pets. I took part in this years Love Ride along Venice Boardwalk and it was an absolute blast as well as doing real good for several hundred homeless people (It’s worth noting that there are currently 80,000 homeless people in Los Angeles).
Wench Toast is a playful twist on feeding the homeless. Dressed in pirate suits and and wench wear they donate delicious French Toast with berries and toppings to many empty stomachs.
Clean Carriage is a mobile shower vehicle with an organic, pure and western theme. It provides a clean private environment for a cleansing shower using handmade organic soaps. Based out of Las Vegas the Clean Carriage recently made the journey to Skid Row in downtown LA and gave several hundred homeless the chance to get clean in a good way.
The Butt Patrol is a smart and informative solution to cigarette litter. Handing out informational pocket ashtrays in order to collect and recycle cigarette butts. Did you know that one cigarette butt can pollute forty liters of water?
Savage Hearts held a fundraising party last Saturday in the very cool Ejagz Parallel Universe warehouse in downtown LA. These are some of the images I shot at the party.
If you can, support this cool movement of constructive people doing good things.
