CMJ Music Marathon is an annual NYC four day feast of music and everything related. Thousands of people attend from all over the world and hundreds of artists perform for their entertainment. And not to be missed are some of the seminars with industry heavyweights giving their perspective on where things are going and how they are getting there. It all happens from 15th to 19th October and you can find the details on the CMJ website. I will see you there.
As this is happening in a couple of weeks I thought I’d throw up some pictures of some of the artists I saw last year. From the fresh faced Flume DJing at The Living Room to the cool old school sounds of Felix Da Housecat at Union Pooli, the British hard rock of Leogun and obvious commercialization of Deap Valley, the post punk of Neon Legion, MRMS and Autodrone, pure genius of Big Scary, psychedelic visitation of US Royalty and shoegaze of Valleys via Gap Dream and of course the very strong female representation by IO-Echo as well as the sublime garage pop of the Dum Dum Girls and superb newcomers the Beach Club and Tashaki Miyak. And countless other amazing artists. As always there was a very strong Australian contingent with the Aussie BBQ and I’ll write about that tomorrow.
