Neon Legion is a cool New Wave/Indie Rock band made up of an eclectic collection of individuals from around the world that I’m happy to say I know here in NYC. I ended up doing this shoot with them last summer and this picture is probably one of my favorite band images from last year.
Multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Philip Kurt Kressin is from Germany but he started the band in Argentina when he was living there back in 2009. He’s lived all over the world and recorded the album principally in Canada and mixed it at legendary Electric Ladyland Studios here in NYC. Guitaris Juan Cruz Masotta met Philip in Argentina and they reconnected in NYC, when he joined the band. Keyboard player Chloe Caillet is originally from France but moved to NYC after studying music at Northeastern University in Boston. Drummer James Mullen is only American in the group and as well being a drummer he is also a hugely talented multi instrumentalist who has played as a session musician on some massive hits over the last few years.
As well as a selection of images from the shoot we did, I thought I’d also post some pictures from a show I saw them do during CMJ last October.
Neon Legion are playing at 10.30pm tonight at the Canal Room – if you are in NYC, go see them. This is the very cool video for the title track from their forthcoming album La Revolucion:
